The Number Twelve: Bible Numerology Code

Number 12 in Biblical numerology is a sum of 3 (which is a symbol of power of Trinity) and four (which means four sides of the world). Ideal balance and cycle or progress is reflected by number 12.

Number 3 is viewed as something heavenly and spiritual. Number 4 symbolizes material and tangible world. The multiplication of those numbers gives us a 12 which is a perfect harmony between heavenly and material in God's creations. Number 12 is very important when it comes to the way people estimate their space and time: look at the calendars and clocks. This number can be often associated with elements of power, control and administration. At the last supper Jesus Christ broke 12 loves of bread and called them to be a "Bread of Life" as an allusion to his holy body. The main manifestation of this number is the joining of the material and spiritual into the perfect balance.

A lot of symbols that concern number 12 can be found in the Old Testament. For instance the celestial city was protected with 12 distinctive gates with 12 gem stones in each. There is a story about the tree of life that brings different fruits each month - total 12 fruits. A woman was given a crown with 12 sparkling stars shining on it. Jacob and Ishmael were fathers of 12 sons each and Chronicles included 12 priests. Elisha's altar was constructed with the help of 12 stones, 12 bread loaves were presented on the golden table, the pectoral has 12 names carved on it, 12 branches confined Aaron, and 12 investigators were looked for on Canaan.

Other cases of the number 12 occurring in the scriptures contain12 tribes of Israel, 12 straps in Ahijah's cape, and 12 stones of the Jordan River. Maybe the most important example is the 12 apostles of Jesus.

The book of Revelation refers to the 12 gates, which are protected by angels so there are 12 angels in total. Those gates should be gone through in order to reach heaven.
